[BASSIST]: Did they invite a musician to that class? [INTERN]: Yes! They invited Paul Frankenfeld. [BASSIST]: He plays viola. I said a musician.

Moment
The marketing department always ends up with weird, labor-intensive projects, and so we all pitch in together. Today I was helping a colleague put cards on seats around the hall, reminding people to renew their subscriptions. A couple hundreds cards are light work for a small army of administrative staff.

Three things I learned about Respighi today:
Though Respighi died in 1936, which seems normal to me… his wife Elsa died in 1996, which weirds me out.
Respighi composed a “sinister picture of a snake research institute” that he visited.
Dude was friends with Enrico Fermi.

La valse makes me think of zombies!
Heard Ravel’s La valse for the first time last night.
One line from the program notes stood out to me: “La valse contains every element of a Strauss waltz except its gaiety.”
